An oval Swiss gold watch in custom made beetle form case set with diamonds, circa 1930. The watch features an oval damascened nickel movement with a lever escapement, and it is jewelled at the centre. It has a silver dial, signed Tavannes, with Arabic numerals and an outer minute ring. The custom made gold case showcases diamond set panels that imitate wings, with the head set with calibré cut sapphires functioning as a pusher to open the wings and reveal the dial. Two legs are naturalistically detailed beneath, and two additional forelegs form a pendant. The body is engraved with stylised Egyptian hieroglyphs, and the case back is numbered and includes a chain.

The movement is briefly running, and the plates are tarnished. The hands adjust smoothly. The dial exhibits tarnishing and small scratches. The engraving on the underside of the case is very fresh. The crown is quite recent. There is a small split on the left side of the case near the crown.
