A magnificent Swiss 18 carat rose gold quarter repeating open faced verge pocket watch with two Jacquemarts and erotic automaton à trois couleurs, circa 1815. Full plate movement, keywind, chain/fusee, two hammers, two gongs, three armed brass balance. Skeletonized dial, visible mirror polished rack strike, the two Jacquemarts, a man and a woman in three colour gold period garments, striking the hours with their hammers onto two large bells that are visible in the upper half of the dial, small white enamel chapter ring with Arabic hours to the centre, small concealed automaton at 6 with small sliding doors of blued steel decorated with a chased three colour gold image of Cupid, the doors open whenever the repeater is activated and the erotic scene depicting a couple making love on a Recamier sofa comes to life. Engine turned case, ribbed band, blank cartouche to the back.
