A. Türler, Swiss watch factory and watch trade
On February 5, 1871, the brothers Henry and César Türler founded a watch factory in Biel . Shortly afterwards, the first Türler collections are presented in Vienna and Pforzheim. 1892 comes Arnold Türler (1868-1917) to Zurich and takes over the destiny of the company. For his company headquarters he chooses the trading metropolis, which was already flourishing around the turn of the century, and moves into new business premises in the heart of Zurich, at the Münsterhof. 1904 arbitration César from the company. Arnold Türler opens the store on Paradeplatz in Zurich. Early November 1907. Werner Türler, the brother of Arnold Türler, opened a Türler branch in the capital of Switzerland at Marktgasse 29 in Bern.
After Arnold’s death in 1917, the widow Frieda Türler continued the company together with their sons Max and Franz. In 1920 Frieda Türler passed the company on to her sons. Max Türler died in 1942 , after the death of Max Türler the company expanded considerably under the direction of Franz Türler and finally maintained over 60 foreign agencies.
In the 1950s, the “Türler” company brought branded watches from, among others, ANGELUS and HEUER to the market with their own signature, sometimes as a single signature or also as a double signature such as “HEUER TÜRLER”. During this time, a few jewelers from well-known watch manufacturers were allowed to label their watches with their own signature, just as, for example, the Milanese jeweler “MARCONI” was allowed to label ROLEX watches with its signature.
