A rare, Geneva gentleman’s pocket watch with regulator dial and split-seconds chronograph, circa 1880. Sold to Bailey Banks & Biddle Co. Philadelphia – According to the current state of knowledge, only five other watches are known to exist.
18 Carat rose gold, polished case with dedication engraving: John Tucker Jr. 1883 und Russel I.Tucker 1888 on the gold dome, and pusher for chronograph at 11. Signed enamel dial with radial Roman numerals on eccentric hour dial at 12, auxiliary seconds, outer minute track, outermost seconds divided into fifths, five-minute/seconds red Arabic numerals and blued hands. Signed, Rhodium-plated, 3/4 plate movement with Geneva Stripes decoration, very finely ground and bevelled chronograph steel parts, ratchet wheel, gold screw compensation balance, and counterpoised lever.
