A fine French gilt metal and enamel open faced verge pocket watch with erotic scene and calendar, circa 1820. Polished bezels, reeded band, the back decorated with a painted on enamel scene of a couple enjoying the pleasures of their boudoir, varicoloured paillon border. White enamel dial with Breguet numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic 15-minute numerals, outermost red calendar numerals, gilt hands with pierced tips.

Matte gilt full plate movement, hexagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock, polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial. Movement signed and numbered.
