Gold open faced lever watch

A fine and rare, keyless, minute repeating, 18K yellow gold pocket watch with split-seconds chronograph, register and Superior Adjustment, circa 1880. Made by H. Meylan, Brassus, Swiss, retailed by Dillon Hanchor & Co. Wheeling, West Virginia. A solid, polished, hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Arabic numerals, dial signed by the retailer. Outer minute and chronograph divisions, sunk subsidiary dials for the seconds and 30-minute register. Blued steel, spade hands. Superior Adjustment, bridge calibre, movement with Nickel-silver Geneva striping decoration, 39 jewels, straight-line counterpoised lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, swan-neck, micrometre regulator, repeating on gongs by activating slide on the band. Movement signed, case numbered.
