A high quality Swiss pocket watch with stoppable jumping seconds and a lever chronometer with helical balance spring, circa 1865.
The case of this quality watch is made of 18 carat gold and has an intricately designed unification crest showing the Swiss cross and Napoleon’s imperial eagle and in the background two caduceus symbols and an African hut. The dial is enamel and it has a bridge movement, 2 barrels and a gold screw compensation balance.
The movement is strikingly beautiful with open-work bridge for the jumping second, a pallet cock that has been fitted in a circle to the balance and a red gold train. A watch that feels, for its size, suprisingly heavy to hold.
