Pocket chronometer with hardstone set key
–
A fine and rare 18 Carat yellow gold hunting cased, pocket chronometer with footed detent escapement and free sprung helical balance spring. Accompanied by a fitted box and a gold and hardstone set key. Retailed by José R. Losada, London and made by Philibert Perret, Genève, circa 1870. Four body and bassine et filets case with engine-turned covers with polished borders, curved band cast and chased with flowers and scrolls and a hinged gold cuvette with engine-turned border.
White enamel dial with black painted radial Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, outer minute track and blued steel halberd hands. Matte gilt and half-plate movement with fusee and chain, jewelled to the third wheel, four in screwed gold chatons, spring footed detent escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with meantime and temperature adjustment screws and free sprung blued steel helical balance spring with inner and outer terminal curves.
Dial signed, movement signed by the retailer, case numbered.
