Gold and oxidised silver watch by Vacheron & Constantin
–
A fine Swiss pink gold and oxidised silver open faced keyless lever watch with chased and engraved case, circa 1903. The frosted gilded movement features a lever escapement, a blued steel overcoil spring, and a bimetallic compensation balance. It is signed and numbered Vacheron & Constantin. The white enamel dial showcases red Arabic numerals, a red outer Arabic minute ring, and subsidiary seconds calibrated in red. The watch also features pink gold spade hands and blued steel subsidiary seconds hand. The oxidised silver case is adorned with pink gold decoration, including a winged Griffin framed by a portico and surrounded by scrolling flowers and foliage. The bezel and band are similarly decorated, with a plain gold pendant and bow, Olivette beside the pendant for hand setting, and a polished silver cuvette engraved with Riccardo Lercari, 1903. The case and cuvette are both numbered.

The watch is functional, with a few small scratches and minor wear on the edges of the bridges. Overall, it’s in good aesthetic condition. Winding and hand setting are smooth. The dial is in good condition, and the case is also in good overall condition with some minor rubbing, but the decorative scheme remains clear and in good order.
