Large heavy gold two-train pocket watch

A fine and very rare large heavy 18 Carat yellow gold two-train, keyless pocket watch with independent centre seconds and 1/4 second Diablotine. Made by Julien Mathey, Locle Switzerland Circa 1865. Four body, massive, bassine et filets and engine-turned case with polished borders, the interior of the front cover with engraved dedication, button in the reeded band at 12 o’clock for the seconds, diablotine start/stop and a hinged gold cuvette with engine-turned border.
White enamel dial with narrow radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, outermost seconds divisions divided into fifths of seconds, subsidiary 1/4 second diablotine and blued steel Breguet hands. Rhodium-plated movement with Geneva striping decoration, double train with differential winding, 27 jewels, the upper escape wheel jewel in a gold chaton, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring and an index regulator with engraved scale on the bridge.
