Gold hunting cased repeating watch by L. Maulme
–
A Swiss gold hunting cased minute repeating watch, featuring a case set with a twenty dollar coin, and engraved with the Ecuadorian coat of arms, circa 1880. This Swiss watch features a damascened nickel bar lever movement with 32 jewels, a bimetallic balance, and two polished hammers that strike a gong. The silver engine turned dial displays black Roman numerals, gilt foliate decoration in the centre and around the outer edge, and a subsidiary seconds dial. The gold case is also engine turned. The back of the case is engraved with the coat of arms of Ecuador and is dated 1860, while the front showcases an inset twenty dollar coin. The engraved cuvette is signed by L. Maulme, Horloger in Guayaquil, and the watch features Swiss hallmarks, with serial numbers 129757 and 33921.

The dial has a few specks of dirt and slight fading on the Roman numerals. The case is in good condition. The movement is rather dirty but operational. However, the subsidiary seconds hand is malfunctioning, so the watch would benefit from a service.
–
The Ecuadorian coat of arms on the watch features a central banner with the year 1860, commemorating the Battle of Guayaquil, which marked the end of the Ecuadorian Civil War.
