An extremely rare gold and enamel scarab form watch, probably made in Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1870. The 18 carat gold case of this watch is shaped in the form of a beetle with hinged wings, has brown engine turned enamel and eyes set with rubies. The original white enamel dial has steel hands. The movement has a cylinder escapement and key winding.
