A remarkable, heavy Swiss 18-carat gold hunting cased minute repeating astronomical watch with a full calendar, moon phase and independent stoppable jumping centre seconds, attributed to Louis Audemars, Les Brassus, circa 1865.
A very rare, highly complex, extravagant, and sophisticated watch. Rhodium-plated bridge movement, two hammers/two gongs, two barrels, gold screwed compensation balance, 42 rubies and eight screwed-on gold chatons, repeater with an unusually resonant tune. White enamel dial with Roman hours, outer minutes/seconds track with Arabic five minutes/seconds numerals, subsidiary dials at 3, 6, 9 and 12 for the date, moon phase/seconds, day and month, stoppable jumping centre seconds and gold hands set with seven diamonds. Polished case with a monogram, glazed movement and a gold Neuchâtel punch mark.
