A fine Renaissance pendant watch with rock crystal case by Samuel Mallot Blois, circa 1633. A richly facetted case of rock crystal, mountings in brass, gilt, early verge movement with gut string, no hairspring, plate signed Mallot Blois, splendid dial, partly silvered, partly gilt, iron hands, movement works for only a short time. Case and dial of this watch originally belong together, but the movement originally belonged to a round Renaissance watch. The watchmaker Samuel Mallot was listed from 1633-1640. This watch has been part of a well-known German collection.
