A Swiss gentleman’s very fine quarter repeating pocket watch with independent jumping, stoppable centre seconds Seconde Morte, circa 1855.
The 18 Carat gold case is engine-turned, monogrammed, and à goutte, with a numbered and signed gold dome, a slide for repeating mechanism, and a slide to stop the centre seconds at 8. The enamel dial has radial Roman numerals, jumping centre seconds, and blued Breguet hands. And the frosted gilt bridge movement is key wind and has two hammers / two gongs, two barrels, gold screw compensation balance, and counterpoised lever.
