Gold quarter repeater by Max Gugenheim

A very fine and rare Swiss, 18 carat yellow gold quarter repeating hunting cased keyless pocket watch, circa 1880. With a triple date calendar, digital months and moon phases. Rhodium plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 33 jewels, some with gold jewel caps, wolf’s tooth winding, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel balance spring with overcoil, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. A polished case with a hinged gold cuvette engraved with the technical details and engine turned border. Glazed gold rimmed cuvette over the movement. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and five-minute numerals. Subsidiary dials for the seconds, date and days of the week, apertures for the moon phases and months and yellow gold Louis XV hands. Cuvette signed.
