Deck chronometer for the British Hydrographic Service

A very well preserved deck chronometer made for the British Hydrographic Service by Vacheron Constantin SA in Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1942. The numbered case of this watch was crafted from silver, features the British military marking H.S.↑2 on the back lid and an engine turned cuvette. The silvered dial is marked Swiss, has Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and blued steel spade hands. The numbered high quality movement is fitted with a chronometer escapement, Genevan striping, a fine adjusting device, chronometer balance and the British military marking ↑.
The case and movement share matching numbers, and the dial and movement are signed.
