A Swiss silver enamel cross form pendant watch with a concealed watch of high quality The Flaming Heart, circa 1890.
The engraving on the back of the cross is exquisite and shows the Sacred Heart surrounded by flowers. The heart is a Christian symbol representing Jesus Christ’s divine love for humanity; another devotion is the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The case is silver with applied ribbon decoration; it is translucent cobalt blue enamel and has a central jumping lid with a repoussé cupid. The dial is white enamel with Roman numerals for hours and Arabic for the minutes. It has a cross form movement, a cylinder escapement and a ring balance.
