Silver open faced musical watch by Albert Didisheim & Frères

A rare, heavy and large Swiss silver open faced musical gentleman’s pocket watch, circa 1905. Glazed nickelled decorated movement with two barrels, Swiss Patent No. 6776, cylinder escapement, three-arm ring balance. Musical movement with steel pins and 26 vibrating blades on the brass barrel and a governor.
Polished case with a slider to switch the music on/off. White enamel dial, small decentralized time indication with radial Roman hours and outer minute divisions underneath decorated with with painted instruments and foliage, paste-set Louis XVI hands.

The Swiss watch manufacturer Henri-Albert Didisheim took over the company M & E Didisheim in Saint-Imier with his brothers Charles, Edgar and Hippolyte. In 1889 the company’s name was changed to Albert Didisheim & Frères and in 1895 it was renamed Henri-Albert Didisheim at that time, based in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The brand name Marvin was deposited under the direction of Henri-Albert.
