A rare Swiss 18K gold astronomical double-dialled keyless world time pocket watch, circa 1890. With triple dates, moon phases and a lunar calendar. Retailed by H. M. Emanuel & Son, Portsea, by Appointment to the Queen. A massive, polished case with glazed covers, and multiple correctors within the band. White enamel dial, on the front made for Greenwich Time with radial Roman numerals, subsidiary dials for the days of the week, the date and the months with inner subsidiary seconds, moon phase aperture, and the age on the border. White enamel on the reverse with seven small subsidiary dials giving the time for New York, Paris, St. Petersburg, Calcutta, Melbourne, Vienna and Berlin. Blued steel spade hands. A rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring, index regulator.
