Gold hunting cased lever pocket watch

A very fine and rare, large French, 18K yellow gold, hunting cased, minute repeating, a keyless pocket watch with chronograph, circa 1900. Made by B. Poitevin, retailed by S. Fernandez Y cia Importadores, Buenos-Aries. Made for Ramon Gutierrez. A massive, polished, hinged gold cuvette. The front cover is decorated with an applied gold monogram.

White enamel dial with Breguet numerals, outer minute track and outermost fifths of a second division with red painted Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds with red numerals. Gold Louis XV hands. A rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 35 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, micrometre regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band, visible chronograph mechanism. Cuvette signed by the maker & retailer signed on the front plate beneath the dial, dial with owner’s name.
