Gold double sided calendar watch

An extremely rare and heavy Swiss 18 carat gold double sided hunting cased calendar watch by Courvoisier Jonais, Chaux-de-Fonds, circa 1875. Lever movement. White enamel dials on both sides, the dial on the front with Roman hours, an outer minute track, Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and spade & whip hands, the reverse with a very rare full calendar, displaying the date, days of the week and months as well as a regulating scale. The polished case with a fly spring mechanism. The front dial is signed.

The patent is from Jonais Courvoisier, June 27th 1871, and was also used by Girard Perregaux. According to research, one similar watch was offered at auction for the
last time in 1998,
identical to the present watch with number 20015, sold for 9,200 Swiss Francs.
