A rare French silver one-handed verge oignon watch with mock pendulum balance and central winding, circa 1680. Gilt full plate movement, chain and fusee, two-arm iron balance. Gilt chased and engraved dial, enamel cartouches with blue Roman hours and a blued steel hand. Plain case. Movement signed.

The French watchmaker Pascal Hubert was born around 1625 and according to Tardy, he became a master in 1649. He worked with Jacques Gloria Sr., who was one of the first makers to create watches without fusee. Hubert died probably circa 1701.
