A very fine French fire gilded verge oignon pocket watch, circa 1700. Full plate movement, chain and fusee, a ring balance with mock pendulum, fine florally engraved balance cock with mascarons. Fire gilt chased and engraved dial, white enamel cartouches with blue Roman hours, outer smaller white enamel cartouches with black Arabic minutes and blued steel hands. The case is finely chased and engraved with flowers and foliage decoration. Movement signed.

The French watchmaker Pascal Hubert was born around 1625 and according to Tardy, he became a master in 1649. He worked with Jacques Gloria Sr., who was one of the first makers to create watches without fusee. Hubert died probably circa 1701.
