Rose gold half-hunting cased presentation watch

A heavy and historically interesting Swiss 18 carat rose gold half-hunting cased minute repeating lever pocket watch with perpetual calendar and moon phases, circa 1895. Bridge movement, two hammers, two gongs, gold screw compensation balance. Gold cuvette with a dedication engraving. White enamel dial with Roman hours and outer minute divisions, auxiliary seconds combined with the phases of the moon at 6 o’clock, the months at 12, the days at 9 and a subsidiary dial with the date at 3. Engine-turned case with a monogram on the back, plain bezels, radial black Roman hours on the front and an inner minute track, maker’s mark FB. Dial and movement signed, case numbered. Comes with the original presentation box and original certificate.

This timepiece was presented to the Danish Secretary of the Interior Ludwig Bramsen, in honour of 25 years of commendable service to the insurance company ‘Allgemeine Versicherungsgesellschaft Helvetia’ in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Ludwig Bramsen was appointed Secretary of the Interior by the king on August 27, 1899, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Bramsen’s greatest achievement was the extension of accident insurance for Danish agricultural workers. He was a member of the conservative cabinet of Hannibal Sehested (1842-1924), whose party was the right-leaning Højre.
