Gold open faced key winding lever watch with chain
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold and enamel open faced pocket watch made by Hy Moser for the English trading house John Salter in London, late 19th century. This watch has a mechanical key winding, fully chased and engraved gilded brass movement featuring a moustache lever escapement, a monometallic balance wheel, a flat steel balance spring, and a parachute shock protection system, signed John Salter London. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer railway minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and blued steel Breguet style hands.
–
The timepiece is housed in an exquisitely decorated round 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case with a fluted caseband and a gold reverse back cover adorned with a vibrant Royal Blue and black translucent enamel medallion featuring a central gold chased floral bouquet, a sturdy round suspension bow, and a solid gold inner cuvette.
A matching gold chain and a winding key accompany the watch.
