Gold open faced lever watch
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch, made by Vacheron & Constantin in Geneva, dating from the late 19th century. This watch features a hand wound mechanical movement with a lever escapement, signed Vacheron Constantin and numbered. The white enamel dial displays black painted Arabic numerals, an outer black railroad minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and gilt pear shaped hands. The 18 carat gold case features a hinged back, finely engraved with a detailed coat of arms surmounted by a crown (likely belonging to the Calmels family), set against a smooth, polished gold surface. Both the case and the inner cuvette are signed and numbered, bearing the FV hallmark for the casemaker Vergers Frères. The watch is accompanied by its matching 18 carat gold watch chain with long, decorative links.
