Gold duplex pocket watch

A very fine, rare, large and heavy English 18 carat gold open faced duplex pocket watch, circa 1820. Matte gilt full plate movement, Ø 42 mm, turned cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain with maintaining power, jewelled duplex escapement, three-arm gold balance with timing screws, flat balance spring, diamond endstone, index regulator. Fixed gold cuvette and gilt dust cover. An unusual blue enamel dial with gold-painted Roman hours, outer minute divisions, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and gold poire hands. The case with a reeded bezel, the band, pendant and bow are deeply chased with fruiting vines, acorns and flowers, the engine-turned back with a reeded border, the centre with engraved initials on a circular reserve, maker’s mark TW. Dial and movement signed and numbered, case numbered and with indistinct London hallmarks.
