An extremely rare, decorative French 20 carat gold, enamel and half pearl set open faced verge pocket watch with corresponding chatelaine, circa 1790.
Full plate movement, chain/fusee, verge escapement, three armed brass balance.
White enamel dial with Arabic numerals. Case with enamel medallion on the back, exquisite engine turned pattern with translucent cobalt blue enamel, large pearl in the centre, surrounded by paillon ornamentation in a frame of pearls and a white enamel border with applied pearl studded gold fillets, the rim decorated with borders of white, blue champlevé and paillon enamel, the front bezel half pearl set. Accompanied by a matching chatelaine with watch key and three tassels attached.
