A French 18 carat yellow gold key operated verge pocket watch, decorated with a polychrome enamel miniature and rhinestones, made by Berthoud, circa 1790. The watch features a rooster movement with a verge wheel escapement and chain fusee. Its white enamel dial displays Arabic numerals for hours and minutes, with a square winding mechanism at two o’clock. The 18 carat yellow gold case displays a polychrome enamel miniature of a female bust, bordered by silver rhinestone motifs and floral garlands.
