Gold keyless pocket watch

A very fine English 18 carat gold open faced keyless pocket watch with chronograph made by E. Dent & Co. Ltd. in London, London hallmarked for 1901. The frosted gilt ½ plate movement, ∅ 43 mm, supplied by Nicole Nielsen with a spring barrel, lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold timing and temperature screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, diamond endstone and an index regulator, the chronograph work is mounted on the backplate and activated by depressing the crown. White enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track with concentric fifth of a second divisions and Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and original blued steel spade hands. The polished case is punched with maker’s mark RN, features a thief proof swivel bow and hinged gold cuvette with an engraved dedication. Dial signed and numbered, movement signed.
