Heavy full hunter cased with ‘The Blacksmiths’ automaton

A heavy gold full hunter cased watch with repeater and rare ‘The Blacksmiths’ automaton, made circa 1890. This numbered full hunter cased watch, which was crafted from 18 carat gold, has an engine turned front lid with a monogram in the center, an engine turned back lid and a cuvette marked ‘Repetition à Automates’ (automaton), ‘Ancre Ligne Droite’ (straight line lever escapement) and ‘Balancier Compensé’ (compensated balance wheel). The face has a white enamel dial ring with Roman hour numerals and blued steel hands and an extremely rare figure automaton ‘The Blacksmiths’ with two Jacquemart figures striking the anvil with hammers during repeating. The movement has a Swiss straight line lever escapement with screwed chatons, an hours and quarters repeater and is marked “patent”.
