A very fine French 18 carat gold open faced quarter repeating Lépine pocket watch, circa 1825. Fine cylinder movement, temperature compensation, repeating the hours and quarter hours. Engine-turned silver dial with Roman hours and outer minute divisions, rose gold hands (one tip missing). Engine-turned case, reeded band, monogram on the back. Case numbered, cuvette signed and numbered.

Perrelet & Fils, Horlogers Mecaniciens du Roi, was one of the best watchmakers in Paris in the first half of the 19th century and made extremely fine pocket watches like the famous watchmakers Breguet and Leroy. He is known for his pocket watches with experimental escapements and early automatic pocket watches.
