Gold pocket watch with chain, seal and watch key

A fine and decorative French 18 carat yellow gold open faced keywind pocket watch, made by Deschamps in Paris, Charles X period, circa 1820-1830. This watch features a keywind mechanical movement with a cylinder escapement. The guilloché gold dial displays engraved and enamelled Roman numerals for the hours, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and gold Breguet style hands. The round 18 carat yellow gold case is entirely decorated with floral motifs and foliate scrolls in black champlevé enamel. The inner case is in 18 carat yellow gold, signed and numbered by Deschamps. Accompanied by an 18 carat yellow gold watch chain with elongated stylised links, a spring ring clasp and snap hook, of French quality from the second half of the 19th century, measuring 41 cm in length, gross weight 23.6 g. It is further completed by a pendant seal set with a green agate intaglio and an original metal watch key.
