A fine French 18K gold quarter repeating pocket watch with English-type ruby cylinder escapement, circa 1825. A polished bezel, coin-edge band, the back engraved grains d’orge, and central vacant cartouche, slide on the band for locking the repeating and a hinged gilt cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and gold Breguet hands. A matte gilt movement, eight jewels, standing barrel, English-type ruby cylinder escapement, three-arm gold balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant.
