An important and heavy Swiss 18 carat gold open faced deck chronometer, circa 1875. Exquisite chronometer movement, helical hairspring, gold wheels, wolf’s toothing, large chronometer balance with gold screws, moustache lever escapement. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic five minutes, subsidiary seconds, fine steel hands. Plain case, monogram on the back. Dial signed, cuvette signed and numbered. Comes with an Extract from the Archives.

Only a few pocket chronometers with this deck calibre were made by Patek Philippe, a few with lever and a few with spring detent escapement. This special edition with gold wheels and helical hairspring was probably made for the English market.
