A French splendour pocket watch made for the Ottoman market, circa 1810. The numbered open faced scalloped case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and has multi coloured enamelled segments, a floral motif in the center of the back lid and its pendant and bow are decorated to match. The Breguet type dial is engine turned in the center, has black Roman hour numerals, outer minute divisions and gold moon hands. The movement has a flat verge escapement.

These magnificent enamel watches with scalloped cases were mainly intended for the Ottoman market. Most of them can also be found with Ottoman dials, with a few exceptions, such as the timepiece here. Similar watches exist with signatures by Lépine and Leroy.
