Gold watch with very fine coin band case
–
An unusual hour and quarter hour repeating Lépine caliber pocket watch made by Le Roy in Paris, France, circa 1810. The numbered case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and features a coined band, French gold punches for Paris and a sunray engine turned back lid with a monogram in a cartouche at 12 o’clock. The white enamel dial has Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions and unusual blued steel Breguet hands. The numbered movement has a cylinder escapement and repeats the hours and quarter hours.
The dial and movement have matching numbers and are signed.
