Gold open faced lever watch by Patek Philippe

A very fine and very rare Swiss 18 carat gold open faced Louis XV style keyless lever pendant watch, circa 1895. Sold on January 19, 1898. Frosted gilt movement, 17 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, straight-line moustache lever, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Gold hinged cuvette. Gilded cartouche dial, chased with scrolls, blue Roman numerals on oval white enamel reserves, outer white enamel minute ring with blue dot and baton markers, original blued steel Louis XV hands. Louis XV case, the bezel cast and chased with the motto Intempestate.Secvritas, the domed back cover decorated with a scene of St. George and the Dragon and the motto S. Georgivs.Eqvitvm.Patronvs, the interior with a scene of Christ on a ship in a rough sea. Cuvette signed, case and movement numbered. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives.
