A very fine Swiss 18 carat rose gold open faced keyless pocket chronometer, circa 1865. Movement with 18 jewels, going barrel, wolf’s tooth winding, gold wheel train, pivoted detent escapement with gold escape wheel, detent pivot with gold jewel cap on the cock, cut bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Gold hinged cuvette engraved with the technical details and engine turned border. White enamel dial with narrow Roman numeals, outer minute track, large subsidiary dial for the seconds and original rose gold paste set hands. Case engine turned on the back, reeded bezels. Dial and cuvette signed, case numbered.
