A fine French 20 carat gold and enamel open faced Louis XV verge pocket watch, circa 1760. Hinged, frosted gilt full plate movement with pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three armed brass balance with blued steel flat balance spring, pierced and chased foliate continental balance cock, polished steel end plate, silver regulation dial. White enamel dial with Roman hours, outer minute track with five-minute Arabic numerals and original gold Louis XV hands. Louis XV case, the back decorated with a painted on enamel vase of flowers on a ledge, chased border and the bezel decorated with polychrome enamel flower sprigs.
