A very fine Swiss 18 carat rose gold hunting cased keyless pocket chronometer with Bulletin de Première Classe de l’Observatoire cantonal de Neuchâtel, in 1890, ranked 36 out of 88 award winning chronometers, circa 1890. Made for La Perla, Bolognese & Rothacker, Genève et Napoli. Frosted gilt-brass half plate movement, 16 jewels in screwed chatons, pivoted detent escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves, index regulator. Gold hinged cuvette, engraved with technical details, the awarded Bulletin and foliate border. Silver dial with painted black Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, engraved with foliage and applied with gold cast grapes, vine branches and leaf scrolls, original blued steel spade hands. Case fully chased and engraved with foliate decoration, the front centred with a horse and rider in high relief, the back with harvest trophies. Dial, cuvette and movement signed.
