A fine, rare, large, and heavy Swiss 18-carat gold hunting cased independent stop-seconds chronograph lever pocket watch, circa 1881. Rhodium-plated movement, decorated with Geneva striping, 31 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil, index regulator, repeating on two coiled steel gongs. Gold hinged cuvette, inner cover stamped PP & Co, repeat slide and chronograph button to the band. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track with Arabic numerals at five-minute intervals, subsidiary seconds, and original blued steel spade hands. Polished and engine-turned case. Case stamped, cuvette signed and numbered. Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives.
