An unusual and early Swiss 14 carat vari coloured gold open faced keyless lever chronograph watch with Lugrin’s patented chronograph module, circa 1881. Nickel finished jewelled lever movement with Lugrin’s patented chronograph work, bimetallic compensation balance. Rose gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer Arabic five minute divisions and subsidiary seconds. American case with chased and engraved floral and geometrical decorated bezel and band, the reverse centred by a vari coloured gold hunting scene in high relief. Case stamped ‘J.E.R.’ (J. Eugene Robert) and numbered, cuvette numbered, movement signed.
