Gold and enamel open faced verge by Autran

A very fine French 20 carat varicoloured gold and enamel open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1790. Matte gilt-brass full plate movement, cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain three-armed brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved continental balance cock, polished steel endplate, index regulator with silver dial. White enamel dial with Roman hours, outer dot minute divisions, outermost Arabic five-minute numerals and original gold beetle & poker hands. The bezel is decorated with a continuous band of two colour gold leaves, the back of the case with a border to match and decorated with a fine polychrome scene depicting Andromache kneeling by a swagged blue urn and an attendant holding a basket of flowers in an arcadian landscape, gold paillon border, further royal blue guilloché enamel border decorated with gold paillon leaves. Dial and movement signed, case numbered.
