Gold pair cased quarter repeating à tact pocket watch by Jaques Decour

A very fine and rare English 22 carat gold pair cased quarter repeating verge pocket watch with à tact option, circa 1740. Gilt brass full plate movement with turned baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, four armed brass balance, blued steel flat balance spring, silver cock with small streamers pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage, repeating on bell activated by depressing the pendant, small lever at 7 o’clock to change to a tact repeating. Gold dial with champlevé Roman numerals, outer miute track with five minute Arabic numerals, applied gold scrolling decoration at the centre over blued steel plate,gold original blued steel beetle and poker hands. Outer case with high relief repoussé to the back depicting the welcoming of a Roman soldier by two women, pierced and repoussé bezels with flowers and scrolling alternating with four vignettes,  two depicting scenes from La Fontaine (1621-1691) and two with a male and a female bust, the inner case with deep back, band pierced finely engraved with inhabited foliage,mask at six o’clock, polished back with small engraved rosette in the centre, silver dust cap. Dial, movement and dust cap signed.
