An English gold, bloodstone and diamond-set pocket watch, circa 1740.
This piece has a gilded full plate movement with a verge escapement and a balance cock that has decorative foliage and a head at the neck. It also includes a fusee and chain, as well as cylindrical pillars. The enamel dial shows Roman radial hours, an outer minutes track with Arabic numerals every five minutes, and open decorative hands. The bloodstone case is a unique choice, as bloodstone is a dark green gemstone with red specks. The case’s rim is surrounded by six diamonds, adding even more luxury to the design. This timepiece is a stunning example of fine craftsmanship and attention to detail.
