A very fine and very rare Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel, diamond and pearl set keyless lever minute repeating chronograph pocket watch with perpetual calendar and phases and age of the moon made for the Russian market, circa 1890. Frosted gilt brass movement, 35 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold screws, Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide in the band, visible chronograph work, button in the band at 12 o’clock for the start/stop and return-to-zero functions of the chronograph. Gold hinged cuvette with blue and black champlevé enamel technical details. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, outermost fifths of a second divisions with Arabic five second numerals, four subsidiary dials for days of the week, date, months of the leap year cycle and subsidiary sconds concentric with phases of the moon aperture with sector for its age, original gold spade hands. Case on both sides fully decorated with rose cut diamonds and pearls on translucent red and green enamel over elaborate engraved ground, the front decorate with a stylized flower head, the back with a crossed geometric pattern, polished band, hand setting button at 4 o’clock, glazed gold rimmed cover for viewing the movement. Cuvette signed.
