Gold quarter repeater by Caudron

A very fine, early French 18 Carat gold open faced quarter repeating keyless lever pocket watch, circa 1860. Nickel silver movement, 31 jewels, escape wheel pivot with gold jewel cap, wolf’s tooth winding, gold wheel train, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Gold hinged cuvette with engraved gothic E&K under an Earl’s coronet. White enamel dial with narrow Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds, and gold spade hands. Engine turned case back, polished bezel, band, and border, flat topped winding crown. Dial and cuvette signed, case and movement numbered.
