Gold hunting cased quarter repeater by Patek Philippe

An extremely fine and very rare Swiss 14-carat gold hunting cased quarter repeating keyless lever pocket watch made for L.M. Lilpop, Warsaw, Poland, in 1903, sold on December 21st, 1903. Rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 21 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, straight-line calibrated lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel Breguet balance spring, swan-neck micrometer regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Gold hinged cuvette engraved with the retailer’s details. Matte gilt dial with champlevé Breguet numerals, outer minute track, large subsidiary seconds, engine-turned center, and original blued steel spade hands. Polished case. Dial, case, cuvette, and movement signed, case numbered. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives.

Quarter repeating watches by Patek Philippe are rare, the majority being minute repeating. As the present watch was made on special order for L.M. Lilpop this is likely to be the reason it was made with quarter repeating and consequently is much rarer.
